Dr. Yuko Harayama is Executive Director of International Affairs at Riken, a government-affiliated research institute in Japan. Previously, she was an Executive Member, Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CSTI) for the Japanese Cabinet Office. Dr. Harayama was the Deputy-Director, Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry at the OECD and a Professor in the Management of Science and Technology Department, Graduate School of Engineering, at Tohoku University.
Dr. Harayama received a PhD in Education Sciences and PhD in Economics from the University of Geneva. She was a Fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade, and Industry in Japan. Her areas of expertise are science, technology and innovation policy, and higher education studies.
Dr. Harayama is a recipient of the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. She is serving as a board member of different not-for-profit organizations such as Global Young Academy, Elsevier Foundation and ORCID.
