Stephanie R. Cook

Cook is a proud Cree woman from the Opaskwayak Cree Nation in Manitoba, 600 kilometers northwest of Winnipeg. She has been employed with the OCN Smart Farm since its establishment in February 2016, and has watched and helped the Smart Farm evolve to its current state. To date, the OCN Smart Farm has tested and successfully grown 75 varieties of produce, including lettuces, radishes, beets, a variety of herbs, strawberries, tomatoes, and melons, just to name a few. She is very passionate about food; as a First Nations woman who grew up in the north and experienced food shortage and food insecurity firsthand, the issues fall close to home for her. Her mission, along with the Smart Farm family, is to help bring accessible, healthy, nutritious, and affordable food to the north.
