Nadia Ghazzali is a Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Université Laval and is an active researcher. She holds research grants, publishes articles in peer-reviewed journals, and contributes to the training of a number of master’s and PhD students. Her research program deals with discriminant analysis, classification methods and artificial neural networks for modelling, and characterizing large databases derived from the fields of signal processing, medical imaging, pattern recognition, astrophysics and biostatistics.

Dr. Ghazzali has held a variety of administrative offices at Université Laval, including Director of the undergraduate program in statistics, Vice-Dean for Research and Development in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Associate Vice-President for Research. Since 2006, Dr. Ghazzali has held the NSERC-Industrial Alliance Chair for Women in Science and Engineering in Québec, a position focused on enhancing women’s leadership and representation in science and engineering fields, as well as increasing the number of young women in science and engineering education programs. She is also the Secretary General of the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists.

Finally, Dr. Ghazzali is a member of the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology of Morocco. She is the recipient of the Highest Distinction, Advancement of Women (2008) from YWCA-Quebec and of the Arabic Women of Quebec Trophy in teaching and research (2007).
