Laura Huey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Western Ontario. She holds a PhD in sociology from the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Huey is the author of several articles on issues related to victimization, policing, cybercrime and surveillance. Her research has appeared in Society & Mental Health, the Journal of Interpersonal Violence (forthcoming) and various other international journals. She has authored two books on the provision of security for homeless crime victims and is co-editor (with Luis Fernandez) of a collection on alternative forms of policing. More recently, she has also become the Debates Editor of the Surveillance & Society journal.
Her research interests are policing (frontline and criminal investigation); victimization of the homeless; cybercrime and cyberpolicing.
