Kei Koizumi is an independent science policy consultant. He was most recently Senior Advisor for Science Policy at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Previously, he was Assistant Director for Federal Research and Development and Senior Advisor to the Director for the National Science and Technology Council at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Before joining OSTP, he served as the Director of the R&D Budget and Policy Program at AAAS.
Mr. Koizumi received his MA from the Center for International Science, Technology, and Public Policy program at the George Washington University (where he was an instructor). He has worked on US government research funding policy and on scientific advice to policymakers, including contributions to US National Academy of Sciences’ report panels.
Mr. Koizumi is a Fellow of AAAS. In 2017, he gave the Bromley Lecture on science and technology policy at the University of Ottawa for the annual Bromley Memorial Event.
