Heidi Tworek

Dr. Heidi Tworek is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia, a senior fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation, and a non-resident fellow at both the German Marshall Fund of the United States and Canadian Global Affairs Institute. She is the author of the award-winning book, News from Germany: The Competition to Control World Communications, 1900-1945, and has been published in many non-academic publications such as Foreign Affairs, The Atlantic, and Columbia Journal Review.

Dr. Tworek received her BA (Hons) from Cambridge University in Modern and Medieval Languages before going on to complete her MA and PhD in History from Harvard University. Since then, Dr. Tworek has held teaching positions at Harvard University, the University of British Columbia, and various fellowships at the Transatlantic Academy in Washington DC, Birkbeck; the University of London; and the Centre for Contemporary History, Potsdam, Germany.

Dr. Tworek is a co-founder of the Platform Governance Research Network, Chair of the Board for Digital Action, and the author of over 35 book chapters and journal articles. She also manages the United Nations History Project website which assists in informing the public on the history of global governance organizations.
