Andreas Boecker obtained his M.Sc. and PhD in Agricultural Economics from Christian- Albrechts University Kiel, Germany. After a one-year visit as post-doctoral fellow at the University of Reading, UK, he took on the position of lecturer at the Department of Agricultural Policy and Market Research at the University of Giessen, and at the School of Agriculture and Food Science at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany. In September 2005, he joined the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Guelph.
His research interests include novel food and agricultural technologies: consumer perception, information search, and decision-making; economics of traceability throughout the food and agricultural supply chain; and challenges and best practices in communication about novel technologies, in particular agricultural biotechnology.
Dr. Boecker’s teaching is focused on Marketing Management and Research and Operations and Supply Chain Management in food and agriculture. He also has extensive experience in academic administration, as the department’s Undergraduate Program Coordinator (2011 to 2020), as Acting Associate Dean, Academic, of the Ontario Agricultural College (2016 to 2017) and as Department Chair (2018 to present).
