Council’s new assessment on Science Performance and Research Funding

The Minister of Industry, on behalf of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), asked the Council of Canadian Academies to examine the international practices and supporting evidence used to assess performance of research in the natural sciences and engineering disciplines.

The Council, under the guidance of its Scientific Advisory Committee, is now starting a process to assemble an expert panel to complete this assessment. The panel will consist of experts from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds to ensure the most authoritative, credible, and independent response to the question.
