CCA welcomes four new members to its Scientific Advisory Committee

The Council of Canadian Academies is pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to its Scientific Advisory Committee: Chad Gaffield, Eddy Isaacs, Stuart MacLeod, and Eliot A. Phillipson. The role of the Scientific Advisory Committee is to advise the Council’s Board on the substance and procedure of expert assessments, particularly in terms of question selection and expert panel membership.

Chad Gaffield, FRSC, is a Professor of History and University Research Chair in Digital Scholarship at the University of Ottawa. An expert on the sociocultural history of 19th and 20th century Canada, Dr. Gaffield served as President and CEO of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) from 2006 to 2014.

Eddy Isaacs, FCAE, is CEO of Alberta Innovates – Energy and Environment Solutions (AI-EES), and Director General for CanmetENERGY in Devon, Alberta. As CEO of AI-EES, Dr. Isaacs is responsible for Alberta’s strategic directions and technology investments in the areas of energy, renewables and emerging resources, and water and environmental management. He was also a member of the Council’s Expert Panel on Energy Use and Climate Change.
