Dr. David Duval is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Winnipeg and an Associate (and past Director) of the University of Manitoba Transport Institute. He is also a Senior Visiting Fellow in the School of Aviation at the University of New South Wales (Australia), and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Supply Chain Management at the University of Manitoba.

Dr. Duval holds a PhD from York University. Before beginning his academic career, he was an analyst and project manager at Longwoods International, a consultancy firm specializing in tourism destination marketing, visitor profiling, and measuring the efficiency of tourism advertising and promotion.

Dr. Duval’s academic work focuses on the economic and legal regulation of commercial air transport in Canada and New Zealand. He has written about international tourism and air transport service provision as well as the interface between government policy objectives and international air transport provision. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Air Law and Commerce, Journal of Air Transport Management, Current Issues in Tourism, and the Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing. He edited the book Air Transport in the Asia Pacific, has written a book entitled Tourism and Transport: Modes, Networks and Flows and has contributed several chapters on aeropolitics and air transport management to various book projects. Dr. Duval (with A. Schiff) recently undertook commissioned work on airline ownership for the Secretariat of the Canada Transportation Act Review.
